Peruvian Desert, Acrylic Collage, Canvas, 51,2x49,2 inch, 2007. Since ever the mysterious designs ("Geoglyphen") in the Peruvian debris desert of Nazca inspired the fantasy of humans. Do the lines (right above in the picture) represent an Oasis Hummingbird? His wings have a span of 65 meters. Does it concern a UFO landing strip? Now archaeologists discovered some bequeathments of the missing persons who formed this landscape from the 4.century under it a mummified dead head and grave goods, which urge the conclusion that the culture was far more highly developed than so far accepted. In the lower half of the picture one looks with details from large height on approximative 400 earth pictures of the mountain-slopes with Pintados in North Chile. This bird perspective is waived however by the articles arranged within the lower range of the picture. On the left site one sees a clay mask with golden nose and ear decoration, as well as a quartz bead (Tumaco Tolita culture, Colombia 200 befor Christ - 600 after Christ). In the center is a Messel frog. The ossified skull and the long hind legs betray the experts that this Messel frog lived ashore. However for reproduction he went into the water. Besides there is an intact fossil queue - a Boa, whose missing head was replaced by a casting. The two meters long choking queue suffocated their booty. Right beside you can see a fossil ant bear, one of the two only copies outside of South America, which also was found in the pit Messel. Probably this large animal (90 cm) lived in the jungle and nourished himself of ants and termites.
Today the pit Messel belongs to the most famous places of discovery from the eozaen. There scientist found fossil remainders of insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and even mammals. To this exotic animal world belonged among other things giant ants, giant queues, even crocodiles and up to 2 meters high giant run birds. In addition scampered fox-large original horse, tapir, bear and shed animals by the tropical forest. Also prosimians, hedgehog-similar insectivores, bats and amazingly many kinds of bird. Between Frankfurt/Main and Darmstadt convenient, Messel was 50 million years ago still on the height of the today's Siziliens, thus substantially more near at the equator. There were not the continents, how we know them today, at this time yet. Perhaps you visit the world nature inheritance pit Messel once, by the way the only UNESCO nature inheritance place in Germany. Right down still another 25 cm high animal man with jaguar head from the Jama Coaque culture in Ecuador is located. Only few of such hollow clay figures have survived unbroken thousands of years.
